In the Spring semester of 2018, Shirley was presented with the opportunity to do an Independent Study in Directing under SLU Instructor of Acting and Directing, Chad Winters. She chose to direct Adam Hoffman's "Quoth the Raven," an adaptation of the works of Edgar Allan Poe for the stage.
